About Damon Hurst
Damon Hurst completed a Bachelor of Business degree at Curtin University. He commenced his career as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, where he gained all-round experience in audit, corporate & business advisory services, including significant exposure to public company capital-raising initiatives.
From KPMG in Perth, he moved to Sydney and top-ten global accounting firm Baker Tilly (BT) International. After three years he was seconded to the London office as a partner designate, managing their corporate finance function across the UK. BT's London practice had a niche focus on the media industry, in turn leading Damon to global publishing company Dorling Kindersley PLC (DK), an expanding public company, initially as Commercial Director.
At DK he worked on start-ups and business development in the UK, USA, Germany and Russia, eventually returning to Sydney as founding director of DK in A&NZ. The business grew rapidly and profitably leading to his appointment as Managing Director. Ultimately DK was acquired by global media group, Pearson PLC, for an Enterprise Value of circa $AUD 2 billion.
In 2001, Damon founded Thirdman Interim.
