Transition/relocation - white goods industry

Situation A public company with a 100+ year history in the white goods industry was in transition. Its Australian manufacturing base was to be superseded by Chinese outsourcing deals, the resulting surplus resources to be channelled into developing capability across design, marketing and a multi-channel sales strategy. The CEO had decided the GM of one business unit wasn't part of this restructured business model.

Task Thirdman was appointed manage the core team through the relocation and transition process, recruit a new GM, and source and negotiate new leased premises.

Action Implemented tasks as above, leading to a strategic review of the business unit overlaid against its operating capability.

Result All tasks achieved efficiently. Identified marketing channel, product range and supply chain conflict with a material effect to bottom-line. Recommendations for change all accepted by CEO and implemented by new GM.
